Lay the first row of vinyl plank flooring along the wall leaving the manufacturer recommended amount of expansion space between the plank s edge and the wall usually about 1 4 inch.

To lay laminate flooring first clear out any furniture in the room you ll be laying the floor in.
When installing the next plank in the row lift the plank at an angle to allow it to set lock in place and tap the plank against the previous plank in the row with a mallet.
How to install vinyl plank flooring as a beginner.
If you are installing the flooring below grade or in a room like a basement with high humidity or moisture lay down a vapor barrier before you install the flooring.

This will allow them to acclimate to the room s temperature and humidity.
Using a full width plank as a spacer trace the contour of the wall and cut the plank to size.
Install the long side tongue into the groove with the end joint aligned.
Next cut strips of underlayment to size and lay the strips down across the exposed floor.
Lay out the unopened boxes of laminate planks in the room.
Work evenly along the length of the plank and lightly tap the joint closed using a pull bar and rubber mallet.
You ll also want to tear up any carpet in the room and remove the leftover tack strips.
If the planks are cut make sure the cut edge is facing the wall.
