How to groom a matted dog.
Hold the mat splitting tool in your dominant hand.
Next using the fingers on your non dominant hand create a barrier between the blade and the dog s skin.
Gently brush the coat using a dematting comb or brush.

There are a couple of ways in which you can use coconut oil to remove mats and tangles from dog hair.
Work from the outside of the mat where the hair isn t tangled and slowly untangle the hair without pulling.
If the mat isn t too bad spray it with detangler solution and use a comb to slowly work the mat free.
Start by placing a small amount of dog toothpaste on your finger and spreading it across the teeth for a few seconds.
This will soften it and give it some elasticity.

Distribute the oil all over the fur.
